Another archipelago, 35.000 islands...

Sometimes I realize that it is not a coincidence that archipelagos as such, live vividly in me. I was born among all those islands and have never left them since. I got back to Stockholm for a few days and on the plane for landing, I saw the huge white ferries /they really are big/ en route from Finland to Sweden and the incredibly numerous amount of islands between the countries. Islands in the blood...

Tranquility in the olive grove...

So peaceful there, in the village of Eftalou. And such nice hospitality by the whole family. I will ask Eric to cut a name plate for the house in olive wood. He knows all about that. Working with the material that is so Lesvian as can be. Fascinating with all varieties of olive wood, all depending on altitude and temperature. More to teach me, Eric...

Slow starter...

I have talked about this for a long time, meaning years. To enlighten clients and others with flowers. Now I feel I am a bit closer to my neighbors this way. And just when I learnt how to water the flowers, the rain came down, and not just any rain...

Waiting for the priests to finish...

Some people were waiting to just see them come out from ceremony. Some were waiting to party later on. We were all there and we came in all shapes and sizes...

From the start to sealing a contract...

Many are the rituals, once they come into the church. It all went well. A lot of noise all the time. Who said I have to be quiet? After all, it is the house of joy...

In times of crisis, ...

...there is always room for the really serious parts of life. Go to a bouzoúkia , a baptizing or a wedding. This is important business and last night I was waiting, with lots of others for the bride and groom to come. Preps to be done, candles to be lit, serious faces all over, people dressed up...

Thanks Lesvos for reminding me...

I have started never to take anything for granted. So many things on this island have very strong spiritual connotations, not just to me. Friends from everywhere keep telling me about their experiences. This morning the sun returned. At the crack of dawn. Goose bumps. Never ever, no matter a person's age, is a morning to be taken for granted.

The Torrents of Spring.....

Not those by Hemingway. But plenty of sun quickly changing into heavy rain, thunder and lightning. To be replaced by sunshine again, allowing me to Power Walk up "Killer's Hill". Barely making it back before the rain is there again. Springtime in Lesvos. Constant dramas....

Interiors...

How Greek this is! And what a good feeling to experience when I am asked in to a friend´s house. And that incredible Lesvian hospitality, but that goes for other parts of Greece as well. Thanks, friends, for letting me in and sorry for the mediocre photo quality, but a mobile is a mobile...

Elláda, Elláda, Elláda...imprints of Greece...

It was an unforgettable night. OK, you are a sport's fan. And it was not Greece that played and Olimpiakós does not represent the whole country and the politicians in Athens will not come to a better sense, but so what! In times of confusion and anxiety, many Greeks could celebrate last night and on me, it made a tremendous imprint.
I was with a super Olimpiakós fan and friend, Antónis Mallis of Taverna Alónia
and with many people from the village. Most of them dropped in after a long day of work.

19 points down against CSKA Moscow in the final of The Final 4 and with less than 10 minutes to go, a win-win 2 pointer in the last few seconds, after an incredibly ingenious pass from Spanoúlis, turned the evening into pure firework of hugs and kisses and more hugs and more kisses, and floods of tears from the players over there in Konstatinópouli. Blowing horns from passing cars and motor bikes and joy is always OK. This victory certainly did not have any impact on how the world go round, but it created a very friendly environment for an evening of the best of Greek fighting spirit.....

I let myself be bothered...

You might get the whole of Molivos Animal Welfare Society on your back, Torsten! And all Bird Watchers Associations. I mean, you really love animals.  You like birds. You are a dog man, basically. Like cats as well and donkeys. Donkeys are fantastic. They always keep staring at you as if you were one of them...

But your relation to pigeons is a very vulnerable one. To say the least. They are pretty to look at. But you hate them. They wake you up in the morning, they keep you away from an afternoon nap and they are noisy the whole day. With all the telephone poles and those for electricity surrounding this house, you cannot get away from them. No matter how you try. You have their sounds ringing in your ears the whole day. And they keep shitting on the terrace, right? Even if you got a nice picture of the most obstinate one, you should just  get yourself a slingshot, to commence a diálogo.....

From early morning break...

...to late afternoon silence and another day is almost gone. I like to take in most of what there is.
