Settings for a film...

It is an intriguing experience to silently tip toe into these secret rooms of silent chapels,
that all seem to be set for the sentiments and curiosity of a movie director.
I let my camera search, for all simplicity in plastic, ingredients for life and death and hope
and all those images of saviors,
candles blown out or burning for those who live,
shades of Taxiarxis and Agios Giorgos.
The silence can leave me with a spooky sensation,
that turns into a wish to weave a story.
It happens often in Greece...

Winter power walk...

The island is full of opportunities.
18C in the shade. Spring in the middle of Winter.
Long stretches of the sandy beach.
Water running to the sea.
A breather at Ágios Ignátios.
A message of Spring.

Soft to the feet.

Not so kind yet.

Peaceful room for a break.

Summer fit for Winter use.

Méri, you are a ray of joy...

INSIDE LOOKING OUT.
SINCERITY.
There is always light and a warm friendliness
every time I come for a break of the day at Meris' place
in the ágora of the village.
Meeting friends here is like a breather.
Méri has stories to tell,
verbally or in her eyes...

Thank you, Παππούς! You would have loved it here...

It is your name day today! And so it is mine and
I feel really good about that. Very proud, really!
We have no trains on this island,  not of any kind,
but I remember how you were going with me down to the railroad station when I was a kid,
so that I could look at all trains coming and leaving.
I remember them in all shapes and sizes and that is where my traveling life once started.

You were that kind of gentleman, wearing starch collar and well-polished boots
that were squeaking while you walked. It was very comforting. You did not talk much,
but I heard you anyway and I am thinking of you right now,
when walking in the village in the rain. I am sure you would have liked that
and I think we could have shared a boutiraki ouzo together over at Meri's in the ágora...

A contradictory night...

I need to stock food. My regular dining room is closed for some time.
Olives need to be taken down.
But a last night with some friends and celebrating a birthday at midnight.
Never time for a candle light dinner in a taverna, especially not at Alonia.
A place for social contacts. The Greek way. Full of fun and laughter.
I miss you all already...

Protein and all.

IPhone fun.

Cracking up like crazy.

Birthday child and husband.

Harrods or Bloomingdales? They don't stand a chance ...

And the Winner is...
When I do my shopping, I am always looking for that extra service from staff, of humility, of intense listening for the client's wish and a genuine smile at all times! A great variety of products with exquisite quality, exposed in attractive and passionate manners, adjusted to seasons and just the right value for money! Even the ham and cheese are being wrapped with love and tenderness.
When I feel a bit down,  λίγο κάτω, I just go down to TSS, Timolis Super Store, to pick myself up. So, all of you fancy stores with famous names, never mind! You have a lot of work to do, before you reach the service qualities of Timolis of Molivos...

ALWAYS THAT LISTENING EAR. TIMOLIS PETRAS.
KEEPS HIM GOING.

No lobster, no champagne...

... on New Years Eve, life is hard sometimes, but lamb, as much as I wanted and rukkola sallad with parmeggiano, pistachio in Balsamico, a great wine from Nico Lazaridis with friends at Alonia taverna and I end up later on with Despina Vandi, not dressed for Winter days, but a fantastic voice...a wonderful evening in the outskirts of a year, knocking on a door to the new and it is already here and I am with it...
